Discipleship, Exercising Faith

Discipleship, is a journey I hope you will join me on. Being transformed into the likeness of Jesus, on purpose.

Previously:

Faith is a muscle that needs exercise to be strong. Faith is the gift of God. It doesn’t come from me, it is a gift from God. It is the special work of the Holy Spirit to open my eyes to who Jesus is and to show my need for Him and to create the capacity to trust in Him.

God is the God of anything, everything, that seems impossible. With God all things are possible.

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.

Romans 10:17

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.

Jeremiah 17:7-10

That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in Him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:20-24

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!

Proverbs 17:3

How might I, exercise my faith in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit?

~ Wait on God.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31

Draw strength from God, and not my own self-reliance. While waiting, do not fall into a frustrated mind-set, thinking, “I have to do something!”

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can stand against the devil’s schemes

Ephesians 6:10-11

~ Focus completely, exclusively on God.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished the race we’re in. Study how He did it. Because He never lost sight of where He was headed – that exhilarating finish in and with God – He could put up with anything along the way: the cross, shame, whatever. And now He’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.

Hebrews 12:2 (The Message)
