Discipleship, Engaging the Scriptures

Discipleship, is a journey I hope you will join me on. Being transformed into the likeness of Jesus, on purpose.

Previously:

It is a day-by-day, moment-by-moment effort to overcome temptation. It takes time, perseverance, and faithfulness. Believe in the transformation that is happening with the renewal of my heart, mind and soul.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

2 Peter 1:2-4

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1

Jesus came to us to give us all the glory of the Word because we were separated and in darkness because of sin.

Each Word of God must be spoken in the Holy Spirit, in faith and in full assurance, and it must be received in faith and the Holy Spirit just as it is – living and powerful – so that it brings forth life in us. Only then, will we be alive.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

1 John 3:1-3

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.

1 Peter 4:1

Jesus had His own will, which He also denied.

Father if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.

Luke 22:42

Jesus also told us to follow Him on the way of self-denial. He is our forerunner.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Matthew 16:24-25

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

2 Corinthians 5:17

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33

Living the Word, engaging the scriptures, the Holy Spirit gives us revelations. We have “enlightened eyes” and His light shines over our sins, we can see our own selfishness, pride, etc. It also gives insight (revelation) into the Word of God and His work in and the promises for those who follow Him.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Psalm 119:130

In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:4-5

Living and engaging the Word every day in every circumstance is the path we are walking with Jesus as a disciple.
